This two day course focuses on the current challenges orthopaedic surgeons face. Our esteemed faculty will provide didactic presentations accompanied with hands-on surgical-based training focusing on complex extremity fracture solutions.

Target Audience: This course is aimed toward orthopaedic surgeons who treat foot and ankle trauma and reconstruction from Latin America countries.


Foot and Ankle

Participants will learn the latest in the treatment options for lower extremity foot and ankle. Presenters will cover ankle fractures and ORIF treatments as well as talus fractures and triple arthrodesis.

Workshop Sessions

Participants will gain practical hands-on experience with a cadaver covering suggested treatment options for these challenging indications:

  • Ankle Fractures
  • Applications for Jones Fractures
  • Talus Fractures
  • Fibula Fracture treatments


Cristian Ortiz, MD

Dr. Cristian Ortiz completed his residency in Orthopedics from Universidad Catolica de Chile, Chile. He is Professor at Universidad Catolica de Chile from 1995 to 2005. Dr. Ortiz was the Chief of Foot and Ankle Surgery from 2005-2018 at Universidad del Desarrollo, Santiago, Chile. He is currently practicing at Clinica Universidad de Las Andes He is the member of American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society and International Federation of Foot and Ankle Societies.

Manuel J. Pellegrini, MD

Dr. Pellegrini, Assistant Professor, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery faculty of Medicine, Universidad de Chile and Foot and Ankle Surgeon, Clinica Universidad de Las Andes. From 2014-2016 was the team physician Chile’s national professional team. Dr. Pellegrini completed his foot and ankle fellowship training at Duke University.
