    The Biotrak Pin is manufactured from 100% poly L-lactic acid (PLLA). This material is completely resorbed by the body in approximately 2-5 years.

  • Cannulation
    Biotrak Pins and instruments are cannulated for .035” guide wires. This facilitates accurate percutaneous and/or arthroscopic insertion.

    Fin design provides gripping intended to facilitate fixation and compression, and protect against shear and rotational forces. Fins reduce pin protrusions above the bone, designed to limit the need for removal.
  • Minimally Invasive
    The cannulated pin and system instrumentation—including the plunger, micro drill, cannula, and single and double trocar guide wires—facilitates insertion.

The Acumed Biotrak Pin is a next-generation fixation solution offering several advantages over conventional metallic implants. The multifaceted fin design facilitates fixation and compression while protecting against rotational forces and enabling surgeons to treat fractures, fusions, and osteotomies. In addition, the pin's PLLA composition is resorbed by the body in 2 to 5 years for optimal healing. Indications for the Acumed Biotrak Pin include: osteochondral dissecans and fragments, radial styloid fractures, ulnar styloid fracture, chevron osteotomies, DIP fusion, PIP fusions, and hammertoes.
