Acumed's Lower Extremity division focuses on providing integrated solutions for reconstruction and fracture repair from the foot & ankle to the pelvic region.
Our patented Acutrak® Headless Compression Screws are ideal for indications such as bunions, hammertoe repair, Jones Fractures, Subtalar Fusion, Calcaneal Osteotomies and Triple Arthrodesis. For compression and cyclic loading strength, our headless screws are superior to standard, headed screws1.
Acumed was one of the first companies to introduce a pre-contoured congruent plating system for the foot & ankle. Our locking forefoot & midfoot plates provide multiple profile options to fit the wide variety of anatomic curvatures and patient specific requirements. With a rounded profile and low-profile screw/plate interface our titanium plates offer increased strength for a superior lower extremity solution.
Acumed's locking calcaneal plating system is ideal for treating comminuted fractures of the calcaneus. The plates ultra-low profile helps to minimize incision complications and will accept both locking and non-locking screws Furthermore, stability is gained via the one-piece triangular construct which helps to protect the posterior facet from collapse.
Acumed introduced an alternative approach to plating fibula fractures in 2008. With the introduction of our Fibula Rod System which provides excellent fracture stability through a minimally invasive procedure. When using our system, surgeons have a choice of placing one or two screws through the syndesmosis which helps to create a more stable construct. Studies have shown higher complication rates for ORIF with the elderly, therefore a more conservative method should be considered.2.
