For over a decade, Acumed has been providing an excellent means of fixing complex fractures to the shoulder girdle, including proximal Humerus, clavicle and scapula fractures. In most cases, Acumed provided the first innovative solution to address these fractures which were once difficult to treat.
Standard ORIF procedures including pinning, reconstruction, and DC plating have historically provided less than desirable results. Additionally, traditional hardware frequently causes soft tissue irritation and/or fails prior to union, requiring a second procedure.
In contrast, all of Acumed's Shoulder Solutions are included in a comprehensive system of implants and instrumentation. Multiple pre-contoured plate options are available to fit the wide variety of anatomic and natural curvatures associated with the proximal Humerus, clavicle and scapula. These titanium plates offer increased strength, with a rounded profile and a low-profile screw/plate interface. This design not only reduces OR time spent in contouring a plate but also minimizes soft tissue irritation for the patient.
For treating 2-, 3-, and 4-part fractures of the proximal Humerus intramedullary, Acumed provides multiple solutions for achieving excellent fixation. The Polarus Locking Humeral Rod offers a minimally invasive surgical technique and straightforward, accurate targeting procedure. Complimenting this option is the Polarus Modular Shoulder System which directly addresses the common problem of tuberosity positioning and repair with hemiarthroplasty procedures with an anatomic implant and unique fracture insertion jig. Both options minimize OR time- a benefit for both the patient and the surgeon.
