Latin America Foot and Ankle Surgical Skills: Trauma and Reconstruction

This one and a half (1.5) day intensive course will provide attendees with an opportunity for hands-on cadaveric workshops, didactic lectures, and in-depth case discussion. Our expert faculty will guide attendees through current challenges facing orthopedic surgeons, discuss advanced treatment options, and share their clinical experience.
This foot and ankle course is intended for practicing orthopedic surgeons in Latin America. This course is designed for surgeons wanting to hear about current concepts in trauma fracture repair of the foot and ankle. The content of this course is also relevant for traumatologists or generalists looking to learn advanced treatment options for complex foot and ankle fractures.

Cristian Ortiz, MD
Dr. Cristian Ortiz is an internationally recognized foot and ankle surgeon who is currently practicing at the Universidad de los Andes Clinic in Santiago, Chile where he is also the Chief of Foot and Ankle Surgery. Dr. Ortiz is currently involved in activities with the American Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) and is the president of the International Federation of Foot and Ankle Societies (IFFAS 2020-2023). In 2019, he won the American Kenneth Johnson Award, which is awarded to the foot and ankle specialist who best represents innovation in scientific knowledge and development. Additionally, Dr. Ortiz is one of the founders of the Asia Pacific Foot and Ankle Society.
Jorge Filippi, MD, MBA
Dr. Filippi is a practicing orthopedic foot and ankle surgeon at Hospital del Trabajador and Clinica Los Condes in Santiago, Chile. He previously was the Chief of Foot and Ankle Surgery at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He is the Program Chair for the Chilean Orthopedic Annual Meeting 2020 and a Board of Directors Member for the Chilean Society of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Filippi has also authored numerous academic articles and has recently been an Editor for the publication Controversies in Acute Trauma and Reconstruction: Foot & Ankle Clinics.
